Questions, answered

Everything to know before you list your first item.

What can I list on Green Gooding?

Tools, kitchen and small appliances, party gear, sport equipment, electronics — anything useful that a New Yorker might want to borrow rather than buy. We don't allow firearms, hazardous materials, or items requiring professional licensing. If you're unsure, list it and we'll review.

How much do owners earn?

Owners keep 80% of every rental. The remaining 20% covers payment processing, the built-in Protection Plan, and platform operations. There are no listing fees, no monthly subscriptions, and no hidden charges. Earnings are paid out automatically to your bank a few days after each completed rental.

Do I need to be home for handover?

Most owners hand off in person — it's the easiest way to verify the renter and explain how the item works. You can also hand off through a doorman, a trusted neighbor, or a local partner shop. If you'd rather not deal with handoff at all, you can offer delivery as an extra at a price you set.

What if my item is damaged or not returned?

Every rental is covered by our Protection Plan, which can reimburse up to 50% of the item's declared new value after we verify the damage with both you and the renter. Late returns are charged at standard rates. If an item isn't returned at all, we work with you to recover it and pursue further action if needed.

Can I block dates or pause my listing?

Yes. From your dashboard you can block any dates — vacations, repairs, or just times you'd rather not rent out. You can also pause a listing entirely without deleting it, and re-enable it whenever you're ready.

Is there any fee to list, or any minimum commitment?

Listing is free. There are no monthly fees, no minimums, and no commitments — list one item or one hundred, rent it out once a year or every weekend. You're in full control.

How do I get paid?

We use Stripe Connect to handle payouts. The first time you list, you'll go through a quick onboarding step where Stripe verifies your identity (a few minutes — name, address, bank info; businesses also need an EIN). After that, payouts are automatic and arrive in your bank a few days after each rental.

What if a renter doesn't show or cancels?

Every booking is request-to-book — you have 24 hours to accept and you can decline any request you're not comfortable with. If a renter cancels after you've accepted, our cancellation policy protects you: depending on how close to the rental window they cancel, you keep a portion or all of the booking value. No-shows on the rental day are treated like a same-day cancellation under the same policy.
